PerkinElmer Announces New LED Fiber Optic Illuminator Module

August 25, 2023

PerkinElmer, Inc. today announced a new LED fiber optic illuminator module that will allow medical OEMs to integrate endoscopy, surgical microscopy and headlamp applications.

PerkinElmer Global Lighting Director: "The new LED fiber illuminator module provides medical OEMs with the latest in solid-state lighting technology to help speed integration, reduce time-to-market and reduce cost of ownership. A product that provides bright and even illumination for surgery and diagnostics."

LED technology (OTFI-0250) uses LED technology to provide bright and highly uniform illumination for the surgical environment with virtually no UV and IR emissions, and thermal management for high intensity light output and long life. The usable life is up to 50 times that of conventional high-intensity gas discharge (HID) lamps.

In addition to patent-pending LED technology, the new LED illuminator module combines precision optics, integrated advanced thermal management systems and electromagnetic interference (EMI). It features metric and imperial mechanical bracket fasteners and a special flange optical calibration feature for easier integration with the original equipment manufacturer's own fiber coupling. It is also RoHS compliant.
