2. Optical splitting construction of FTTH network
PON is the foundation of FTTH network, and optical splitter is an important part of PON network. The optical splitting construction of PON network has two kinds of first-level optical splitting and second-level optical splitting. The first-level optical splitting means that the optical splitters are concentrated and distributed in the optical fiber distribution box, and are directly connected to the OLT at the central office through a single optical fiber. Multiple optical fibers are connected to multiple ONTs at the user end, and the splitting ratio of the optical splitter in the first-level optical splitting is usually 1:32 or 1:64. As shown below:
The two-level optical splitting method means that two sets of optical splitters are connected between the OLT and the ONU through cascading. This splitting method has two splitting points: a primary splitting point and a secondary splitting point. The first-level optical splitting point is usually located near the central office, and a 1×4 optical splitter is generally used; the second-level optical splitting point is generally installed at the user end (such as in a corridor), there are multiple optical splitters, and a 1×8 optical splitter is generally used Splitter. Typically, primary splitting solutions are used in congested city centers or urban areas to reduce costs and ease maintenance of Optical Distributed Network (ODN) nodes. The secondary optical splitting solution is used in roadside or rural places to cover a wide range of ODN nodes, saving resources and saving money.
3. Splitting ratio design of FTTH network
1:N (N=2~64) or 2:N (N=2~64) optical splitters are commonly used optical splitters in PON (N, number of output ports), optical splitters with different splitting ratios The role played in the FTTH network will also vary.
If the distance between OLT and ONU is long, it is recommended to use 1×32 optical splitter, and if the distance between OLT and ONU is short, you can use 1×64 optical splitter. For the splitting ratio of the optical splitter, the longer the transmission distance, the optical splitter with fewer splitting paths should be selected. For example, transmission distance ≤20km: use 1×32 optical splitter; transmission distance ≤5km: use 1×64 optical splitter.
